November Student of the Month
Derek Reutter is the O.H.S. student of the month for November. Derek is the son of Chad and Terri Reutter. You might say Derek is a sports nut and you would be right.
Lettering in four different sports in every season during his athletic career at O.H.S. Then again, you might say that Derek is really into music and drama. You would be right again. Derek has an impressive list of awards in those areas as well. Then again you might say that Derek is a great volunteer. Guess what? Right again. Derek has made a point to be there to help, whether it is helping out with the tech crew, setting up sound for a program, committing time to the Special Olympics, or finding time to be with a youth sports team that needs an umpire or a coach. Derek Reutter is a stand up guy.
Derek has a brother Joshua of Boone and a sister Isabella, who reportedly, is very fond of her older brother. That says a lot about a senior in high school. It seems that Derek manages to find time for many people in his life that are important to him. He knows the meaning of the words sacrifice and commitment. You might say Derek is a bit old school. Effort could be his middle name.
Derek is a member of Grace Community Church. He has been involved with Bulldog Builders and is a member of the National Honor Society. Derek has excelled in music both in band and choir. In drama, Derek has had many roles, and is the lead role of Woody in this year’s musical. He has also been a strong anchor and leader with the tech crew. His number of receiving touchdowns in football is among the leaderboard.
Derek Reutter represents the best result of rural education. He has been able to find a variety of experiences and commit to each. His life will be balanced and blessed for his efforts put forth here at O.H.S. Derek plans to attend Northwest Missouri State and study sports medicine or radiology. Congratulations Derek!
