2017 April Student of the Month

“The Theatre….The Theatre”….

Is our student of the month on stage????  Actually, she is on stage, but not as the leading actor. She is, however, the director/manager of the sets and scenery crew for the OHS Theater Department.

Charlie Klauenberg, April’s Student of the Month, has been on stage designing, drawing, painting, and constructing for countless hours on end, production after production.  Charlie has been a driving force in theater, music and art the last four years.  She has been fully dedicated to her passion of art and design and has spent numerous hours working on her creative style, expertise and talent. While she spends a lot of time in the music and art rooms, Charlie is a very balanced student.

Charlie has taken a variety of academic classes and has been involved with co-curricular activities and clubs earning many awards and recognitions. She has received an academic letter, as well as, letters in: art club, theater, band, track and volleyball.  Charlie is also a member of the National Honor Society.  Special honors include:  Bulldog Academic Achievement Club, OHS Best of Show (Spring Art Shows), West Central Valley Conference Art Awards, Director’s Award (Band), and Louie Armstrong Band Award.  Charlie is also very involved with OHS Student Government and has served as a council member for 4 years, was the vice president of her class as a junior, and currently is a Senior Leader for the Bulldog Nation/Peer Group.  Her dedication, time, effort and leadership has definitely been noted by her teachers, coaches and peers.

Outside of Charlie’s busy school life, she also works at Sunstream Retreat Center. She also assists her dad in a variety of programs appearing as a stilt walker; the most memorable programs were working with Bob Parsons and GoDaddy.  Charlie plays AAU Volleyball and has been an assistant coach for Youth AAU Volleyball.  Creating art with various media is her biggest hobby and time filler.  She loves to collect and read old hardback books.  Her background music of choice would be Jazz and Big Band.

Future plans for Charlie include attending the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) majoring in Theater Design and Tech.  She is a recipient of UMKC Chancellor’s Non-Resident Award. Charlie J Sue Klauenberg is the 3rd child of Toby and Jennifer Klauenberg.  She has 2 older siblings: Toby Jo (’10 OHS Grad) and Byron (’12 OHS Grad) and a younger sister, Allea, who is a sophomore.

Congratulations Charlie and Best of Luck!!!
