September 14, 2006
Listed below are the requirements for the Accelerated Reading Program for the seventh and eighth graders.
1. Each student will be expected to read two books per quarter (with no less than three points per book).
2. Students will earn points or graders on their Accelerated Reading tests as long as they pass the test at 60% or above. *The tests need to be a passing score to count. Failure to complete this requirement will score a 0% on his/her Accelerated Reading quizzes for the quarter grade.
3. Students must read books that are within their reading zone as determined by the STAR reading placement test.
4. There will be no points awarded or credit given for tests taken over classroom novels used in any class, or for books which the students read at a previous date (i.e. the previous school year or during the summer). *This includes the books that Mrs. Smith and Mrs. S. Kruse have read aloud (Castle in the Attic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and etc.).
5. There will be no points awarded or credit given for tests taken over books which the students haven't logged. Their progress is recorded every week, and if a book hasn't been recorded, it won't count.
6. Students must have a free reading book with them at all times and use it when class work is finished.
