ON-LINE DATABASES

We are very fortunate to have access to the following online subscription databases. You will need a user name and password to use these databases at home. Please call Susan Casey at 275-4975 for this information because we cannot put it on the website. Enjoy these databases and use them often!

Iowa AEA Online: A wide array of K-12 resources and information

NEWSBANK: The electronic editions of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers--all in one easy-to-search database. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. Paid ads are excluded.

Des Moines Register Online The electronic version of Iowa's premier newspaper. Search archives or recent editions.

Ebsco Host Contains student resources for elementary, middle and high school levels that include magazine and newspaper articles, speeches, historical documents, reference books, book reviews, photos, images, maps, and charts.

Novelist and Novelist K-8 helps students and teachers find fiction books based on books they have read or topics of interest. Readers can search for books by title, author or by simply describing a book they would like to read.

World Book Online Book On-Line: World Book Online includes more than 9,500 pictures and maps, 115 videos and animations, 9,300 sounds,129 panoramic 360 degree views and more than 100 simulated historic web sites. It contains 60,000 cross-referenced links and 248,000 hyperlinked dictionary definitions.

ClipArt.com.com contains more than 2,500,000 clipart images, animations, photos, fonts, and sounds. Images are copyright clear for use in newsletters or on posters, web sites or bulletin boards.

Atomic Learning online training database of over 2,000 tutorial movies. Atomic Learning breaks down software programs into fast-loading tutorial movies played over the Internet. It actually shows you how to use a program, with narration.
