May Student of the Month

May is a time to look forward into the future and plan for next year’s education activities. Deanna Chapline, May Student of the Month, has her plans set to attend Central College in Pella and be involved with their music program. Her long-range plans include a medical degree and becoming a surgeon.
Deanna has the background and the drive to accomplish anything she sets her goals on. She has been involved in art activities including a 4-year HOIAC art participant, art club president, and community theatre sets and scenery helper. In band she has been involved in jazz, concert band, and pit band productions. Athletics has also seen her participate, including 4 years of volleyball, some track and basketball early in her career.
Outside of her school activities, she has been involved in 4-H, tutor for the summer academy, and mentor programs. She is a member of Bulldog Builders and has gone on several mission trips to Mississippi.
The business community has also seen her work at the 4-H Camp, Minnie/Reutter Catering Service and Chappy’s Pizza.
Deanna has excelled in her activities at Ogden. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been awarded a music scholarship from Central College and has received a Citation Award scholarship through the Bethel Awana Program.
Even with all of her activities and schoolwork, Deanna holds family in high regard: Dave and Nancy Chapline are her parents. Her brother James is a freshman at Wartburg College; sister Sarah is a 9th grader at OHS; Brothers Bryce and Jacob, 4th and 2nd grade and soon to be adopted brother and sister, Chad, 3 years old and Becca age 1, and two foster siblings. She has been involved with the family foster program since age nine.
