Congratulations go out to Brian Good, February’s OHS Student of the Month!
Brian is a remarkable young man who serves his school and community with purpose and enthusiasm. He is a kind and caring person who is always going the extra mile to make people feel welcome and appreciated.
This extra mile starts right here at OHS. Brian is a hard-working member of Student Council and was voted Student Body President, a position he has stepped into with full force! He headed up one of the most spectacular Homecomings, helped collect food for the Boone County Food Pantry, and serves as a student ambassador. Brian is the kind of person you can look up to for help and support.
Not only does Brian have time for helping others, he also is a driving force in school sports and activities. You see him running cross-country and giving his all on the baseball diamond. He is involved in school plays, jazz band, drum line and the tech crew. Most recently, after a snow-shortened practice season, Brian and his group did awesome in Large Group Speech competition and qualified for State! He is also involved in individual speech where he made it to All-State last year with his radio news announcing!
Along with school activities, Brian is also busy outside of OHS life. He is president of Westside Hustlers 4-H Club, a member of St. John’s youth groups where he helped collect food for yet another food bank! He also went the extra mile by helping prepare and serve food at the homeless shelter.
Brian is a National Merit Commended Scholar and was honored by being selected to attend the American Legion Boys State.
When Brian is not busy doing good and helping others, he does manage to find some free time to enjoy his hobbies, which include writing, drawing, sports, music, and his interest in history and politics.
Brian is the son of Lori and Randy Good of rural Ogden. He has one older brother who graduated OHS in 2008 and is now attending Iowa State University. He also has two younger siblings: Elizabeth who is in 7th grade at OMS and Patrick, who is a freshman at OHS. After graduation, Brian is planning on attending Iowa State University.
Brian is a tremendous asset to his school, family and community. His hard work, dedication, respect and genuine care for others make him an all-around great guy. He has a great passion for life and learning that easily rubs off on whomever he comes in contact with! We are all proud to have him as a student, friend and member of the OHS family.
