October Student of the Month

Josh Oren is a senior who is recognized and appreciated for his positive influence on the culture of his school and community. His contributions have earned him recognition as Ogden High School’s October 2009 Student of the Month.
Josh takes his education seriously, and his positive attitude makes a difference in the classroom. He is known for the courtesy and respect he shows toward others and his willingness to help and encourage others in team efforts. He serves as Vice President of the Student Council, and in that role has dug into projects ranging from the first day of school assembly to helping produce the Homecoming video.
As a Student Ambassador, Josh serves as one of a group of volunteers who lend support for new students and freshmen at Ogden High School. He has participated in football, basketball, varsity cross country, and track, as well as competing in Science Olympiad, earning a 3rd Place spot in that competition. Art has become a strong interest for Josh, and he has earned awards for his work in painting and drawing and provided leadership in Art Club activities.
Community service projects have filled much of Josh’s time as an active member of his church youth group and Bulldog Builders, as a member of National Honor Society, and as a Boy Scout. In Scouts, he has achieved the rank of 1st Class after completing accomplishments in camping, first aid, outdoor cooking, orienteering, and outdoor survival. He was selected to the Order of the Arrow by his peers. He has served as both a table leader and a speaker for Chrysalis.
Josh’s interests may lead him to a career in teaching science at the middle school or high school level, and he’s considering attending Iowa State University next year. Josh’s parents are Glenn and Shelley Oren. His sister Natasha is a junior at Iowa State, and his brother Jacob is a sophomore at Ogden High School.
Josh serves as an excellent role model, and Ogden High School congratulates him on his selection as October 2009 Student of the Month.
