November Student of the Month
November 05, 2009
If you ask around the Ogden High School halls what type of
person Sean Nichols is, you would find out that he is a very
caring, creative, dedicated, and a hard-working young man who sets
his sights high. Just this past year Sean sacrificed his summer by
taking 2 DMACC math courses everyday Monday through Friday all
summer, to better his academic achievement, and so he could take
Calculus as a Senior. When Sean sets a goal, nothing will stand in
his way for him to accomplish it.
Sean has been heavily involved in athletics, music and school
activities. He has been involved in football and wrestling for four
years, and track two years. In the Science Olympiad Sean earned a
3rd place award. As a four year member of the Knowledge Bowl team,
Sean’s team has made it to Des Moines for three years, and just
recently won 2nd place in Division Two.
One of Sean’s favorite passions is in the field of music. Sean has
been a part of Jazz I, Marching, and Concert Band. He has played
the clarinet, bass drum and drum set. Sean’s real talent lies in
the electric/acoustic guitar. The first day of school this year
Sean treated the entire school to an electric guitar version of the
Star Spangled Banner.
Even with all these activities Sean still finds ways to excel in
academics and help out his classmates. He is a Student Council
Representative, People to People Student Ambassador, and a member
of the National Society of High School Scholars. Sean has also been
involved in designing homecoming and prom t-shirts for his class
and was the 2009 OHS Homecoming King.
The list could go on and on of things that Sean is a part of or
helped out in. As you can see, Sean represents all the qualities
that a great OHS student should encompass. We are very happy to
honor this energetic, creative, and positive Ogden High School
Student.
Sean future plans are attending Iowa State University majoring in
Electrical or Chemical Engineering with a minor in Music Technology
and Graphic Design. While attending college he would also like to
pursue his deepest passion music, by playing on stage in his own
band.
Sean’s parents Brian and Rhonda and sister Jessica join us in
congratulating Sean and wishing him continued success through high
school and in the future.
Congratulations Sean for being November Student of the Month!
