December Student of the Month

Unique talents are among the accomplishments of Ogden High
School’s December Student of the Month, Toby Jo Klauenberg. Not
only has she excelled in a variety of activities, sports, and
academic pursuits, but she has attained skills in an entertaining
career as well.
As part of the family business, Funny Farm, Toby Jo has her own
clown personality. In addition to entertaining people by clowning
around, Toby Jo has assisted a variety of entertainers and has
stilts skills. She has also led a lecture at a workshop in
Georgia.
Her leadership isn’t limited to the family business. Toby Jo has
been involved in student government since fifth grade. She has been
a Harbor representative for student council in addition to being
Class Vice-President her junior and senior year.
As a four-sport athlete, Toby Jo has excelled in performance and
leadership. She was floor captain for volleyball this year and
received unanimous All Conference First Team for her performance.
Previous recognitions for volleyball include All Conference
Honorable Mention and Most Improved Player during her junior year.
Basketball is another sport in which Toby Jo shows leadership; she
had been named captain this season. Her performance on the court
has been recognized by All Conference Honorable Mention as a
sophomore and All Conference Second Team as a junior. In softball,
Toby Jo was chosen by her team to receive the MVP and Golden Glove
Awards her junior year. She was also recognized as All Conference
First Team.
The sport in which Toby Jo’s work ethic has made her shine is
track. She has broken Ogden High School’s record in both discus and
shot put. For those events, she has qualified and competed in the
State Track Meet, finishing in 6th place for the shot put in
2009.
Although she is a terrific athlete, Toby Jo is also involved in
band, National Honor Society, Mentoring, and OHS Ambassadors. Her
service to others carries from school to the community. As a member
of St. John’s Church Youth Group, Toby Jo has raked leaves,
collected food for the food pantry, and served meals at a homeless
shelter. She has helped with Carnival night, a trick-or-treat
alternative event, and been part of Ogden Fun Days Kid’s
Parade.
Among all these activities, Toby Jo has achieved academic
excellence. She is currently being recruited by some fine colleges
and will be making official visits to help her decide where she
will attend next fall. Given her successes thus far, we all look
forward to learning what the future holds for Toby Jo.
Toby Jo is supported in her endeavors by her parents, Toby and
Jennifer and her siblings, sophomore brother Byron, fifth grade
sister Charlie and third grade sister Allea.
Congratulations, Toby Jo Klauenberg, for being named December
Student of the Month for Ogden High School!
