Football Team goes to Camp Dodge

by Ken Vigdal

August 22, 2010

This fall the Ogden football team chose to start to start the season with a new tradition. Not some unique team haircut or fun new hazing ideas for the incoming freshman.  They needed a way to get their season started in a team oriented direction. To start the 2010 season the Ogden Bulldogs did more than just practice in the heat of the August sun. They did more than just learn the ins and outs of how the Bulldog Offense and Defense. On August 2nd the team packed up at 7:00am and loaded a bus to Camp Dodge were they would spend the next two days eating, sleeping, and practicing as one unit.
The daily agenda consisted of a full practice in the morning, lunch, a team building exercise, recovery time, supper, and another practice, then lights out. The fond memories the young men were: Conquering the Beast, 7 on 7 vs Alta, the great taste of MREs, and learning some of the great stories behind historic Camp Dodge touring the museum. Coaches felt that the trip was a successful because the boys learned not just what scheme they were playing, but the importance of who they were playing with.
