Principal's Welcome Howe
Welcome to Howe Elementary School. I first came to Howe as a kindergartner. The building was two years old and I was only four. After graduating from Ogden High School, I earned my undergraduate degree in elementary education from University of Northern Iowa in 1974. I returned for a Master of Science in Education Leadership from Drake University in 2006. After a lifetime in education, it is my pleasure to serve as Howe Elementary principal this year.
Howe Elementary has a strong history and a bright future! We feel it is so important to have in place high expectations leading to higher achievement for all. We strive each and every day to ensure that Howe Elementary School is a place where success happens regularly. We are fortunate to have an amazing group of students, faculty, and parents whose dedication makes this possible.
I value the partnership between home and school and view the home as the first and most important center for learning. Please know that my door is always open if you have any questions or concerns that you would like to share.
We have pre-school through fourth grade in this building. Our enrollment is 239 at the present time. We have an all day pre-school, with an early out each Wednesday. There are two kindergartens, three first grades, two units each of second, third and fourth grades. We have Title I reading, an instructional tutor, two resource teachers, speech services, extended learning and AEA support. The students have physical education, guidance, library, art and music one day each week.
We have an active Parent Teacher Organization, and several after school programs, which support athletic and other interest areas, such as soccer, wrestling, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and more.
At Howe Elementary School we work hard, play hard and we celebrate!
