Throughout the past year the Ogden Community School District has been working on developing a strategic plan. The strategic plan will provide a focus and guide the district’s efforts over the course of the next five years. The district’s teachers, School Improvement Advisory Council and school board provided input into the development of the plan. The first step of the process was to develop a shared mission and vision. The mission and vision clarifies our purpose and provides direction for the future. The district’s mission and vision statements focus on student learning and future opportunities for out students.
Engage, Educate and Empower
Ogden Community School District will inspire the next generation of innovative thinkers to persevere and succeed in meeting tomorrow’s opportunities.
The second step of the process was to develop long-range goals to support the mission and vision of the school district. Our goals established priorities for the school district. Each goal is supported by an action plan that will be put in place over the next five years. Six long-range goals were developed:
GOAL: We will monitor and plan utilizing the seven general fund key financial indicators.
GOAL: We will provide an engaging relevant and challenging curriculum in a student centered environment utilizing common formative district assessments that guides growth in student learning.
Climate and Culture
GOAL: We will promote, develop and cultivate a safe learning environment of mutual respect between all students, teachers, parents, and community members.
GOAL: We will create resourceful and adaptable students that engage with technology, fostering higher education and workplace success.
GOAL: We will increase the effectiveness of the communication within our district and throughout the community.
GOAL: We will promote opportunities for students to be involved in at least one co-curricular or district approved community activity each school year.
Each of the above goals is extremely important for the success of our school district, the students we serve and our community that supports us. The strategic plan will be put in place beginning in the 2015 – 16 school year. Plans are currently being made to market the plan to our community. Community presentations will be made in the upcoming weeks to share the strategic plan. The district is working with Heartland AEA’s Creative Services Department to develop printed materials to assist us in communicating the strategic plan. Future articles will follow explaining each goal more specifically.
