Ogden High School is proud to honor Kayden Spencer as our November Student of the Month! She has distinguished herself through her generosity, kindness, and her humble pursuit of excellence.
Kayden’s commitment is evident in her accomplished distance running career. In a sport that rewards long-term dedication as much as pure talent, she has been a regular qualifier for State Meet competition. She earned three trips to the state cross country meet, qualified to run the 3000 meters at state track and field as a sophomore, and had a breakout track season as a junior when she qualified for the 800, 1500 and 3000 meter races. As a senior she set our school record for cross country and will be in contention for several track records. It would be rare to hear of those accomplishments from Kayden, however, as her focus remains on contributing to her teams.
Kayden understands and demonstrates that improving herself allows her to give more to others. She generously shares the best of herself through numerous service activities, including raising money for Wings of Refuge, helping with a bake sale to raise money for missionaries in Africa, volunteering at the Holy Cow ice cream shop, and working for two of Riptide Youth Group’s outreach projects at the Des Moines Dream Center and at One Mission Society in Indiana. She also worked full-time with the kitchen staff at Hidden Acres for the past three summers.
Kayden contributes her efforts to many other programs at school. She’s been part of marching band, pep band, show choir, musical, musical tech crew, band solo/ensemble contests and worked on the graduation planning committee. She also achieved Honor Roll each semester of high school.
Kayden is the daughter of Nate and Jill Spencer. After graduation she plans to attend community college to study business, and is considering scholarship offers to run cross country.
