January Student of the Month
Lane Snedden

With a new year, comes new beginnings. What better way to begin our year at Ogden High School than recognizing an outstanding student for student of the month? It is a great honor to recognize Lane Snedden as our January Student of the Month. Lane is the son of Dan Snedden and Tina Snedden and the brother of Bryce, Noah, Ethan, Benjamin, and Jake.

Lane exemplifies the characteristics of the Student of the Month through his hard work and dedication to everything that he participates in. Academically, Lane has been on the honor roll every semester of his high school career. This has led to him getting inducted into the National Honor Society as a Junior.

Lane is a four sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, track and field, and baseball. In football lane has been an All-County Player for three seasons, an All District Player for three seasons, an Academic All-District Player for two seasons, a team leader Junior year and a captain Senior year. In football he also received Beck’s Player with Heart which is awarded to players nominated by community members for their leadership and dedication on and off the field. In basketball, Lane was an All-Conference honorable mention, a team leader his junior year, and co-captain for the 2021 season. In track and field, Lane was a team captain his Junior year.

Outside of athletics, Lane is in student council, 4-H, Zion Lutheran Church Youth Group, and FFA. In FFA, Lane has been an integral part of the Ogden FFA Chapter since the beginning. He has been an officer for three years holding the positions of Secretary, Vice President, and President. He has served as chairperson of the Leadership Committee, Elementary Outreach Committee and Strengthening Agriculture Committee. Through his committee work he has led many volunteer opportunities, planned multiple events, and has created agricultural literacy opportunities for younger students. Lane has combined his passion for agriculture with his outstanding academics to be the teaching assistant for the agricultural education program.

Lane continues his hard working mentality as much outside of school as he does in school. Lane works on his family farm, runs a mowing business where he mows multiple cemeteries, and works for Dynamic Ag Solutions in the summer. He has volunteered countless hours including clean up days, making blankets for Blank Children’s Hospital, and working with youth sports.

Upon graduation, Lane is continuing his passion for agriculture by attending DMACC to pursue a degree in Agricultural Business. He also plans on volunteering with youth sports to help kids get an understanding of sports early on. Lane’s love for his home and his community has ensured that no matter where life takes him, he will have countless supporters cheering him on along the way.

Congratulations again Lane, continue to make Ogden proud!
